Do you ignore these warning signs of eye trouble? If
you find
yourself developing blurred vision, glare at night or spots

you probably need some medical help.

A blurry view of distant
objects is ignored by many of us. If it
poses difficulty in driving, watching
TV or seeing a black board
then you need to consult a doctor. Long time close up reading and
genetic factors are linked to blurred vision. A few symptoms
like
fatigue, headaches or squinting are seen to accompany
vision
problems.

1. Mild farsightedness mean blurred vision of close
objects. It
needs treatment if you begin to get headache.

2. Difficulty in reading fine print is a sign of aging. Do not try
to postpone
getting your reading glasses.

3. Nearsightedness is seen in teen whose glasses or contacts change
frequently as they grow. This usually stabilizes
by the time they
reach their early 20s.

4. Astigmatism causes not only
headaches but also fatigue and eye
strain.

5. Glaucoma is not
uncommon. Cloudy vision, nausea, light
sensitivity, excessive tearing etc are
some signs that you need to
worry about. Get regular eye exams to rule out
glaucoma.

6. Age related macular degeneration destroys proper
vision.
Straight lines or a blurry spot in the centre needs
treatment.
Caution for the elderly, hypertensive and the obese.

7. If
you are a Diabetic it is better to get regular annual check
ups to prevent
and delay Diabetic Retinopathy.

8. Cataract is age related. Prolonged sun
exposure, diabetes and
smoking increases the risk.

9. Retinitis
Pigmentosa begins with night vision problems, followed
by a gradual loss of
side vision, developing into tunnel vision,
and finally, in some cases,
blindness. It is an inherited disorder.

10. If floaters or specks appear
suddenly or increase suddenly, or
are accompanied by light flashes, you
should not wait.
