My main beef with the holidays is the complete
I used to love holiday events...until around the time Cata hit. I think the "fun" sort of wore off by that point after doing rs gold 2007 since vanilla.
My main beef with the holidays is the complete lack of effort that has gone into them lately. Brewfest, for example, has no new stein, and Coren drops nothing that my main needs as I've been way past iLvl 470 gear for many months now. Now I get that holiday items have only ever been updated once per expansion, but I just don't understand why. Especially now with 496 timeless gear flowing faster than you can equip it, this seems stupid.
Also, the argument that it would take development time away from other things irks me as well. Yes, that is a true statement, but honestly these holidays are something that are going to keep coming back year after year after year, so a little work on them now and then makes sense from a design standpoint, right?
On a happier note, I can't wait for Hallow's End. It actually is the only festival I look forward to anymore, and I don't know why I love it so.
As soon as I read the opening line, I knew it was Rossi. His dislike for in-game holiday events is well-known.
Here's what annoyed the hell out of me. Most holidays were fun little events that mostly required YOU to supply the fun. Sure, some had quests, or events (Brewfest) and even items, but they were fun things. If you wanted an item, you had to work for it, but it was doable (the first year, the Brewfest Ram was a purchased mount, not a drop. And the Kodo didn't exist.)
But then they started revamping the holidays. And at first the revamps seemed nice. New content, new items. But they started changing them all to be the same thing. Daily grinders.
Want that nice item from that holiday? GRIND your ass off! Want that full set of clothes? You better login every single day of the holiday and get perfect scores in every variable daily.
Holidays went from holidays to grinding content. Most requiring you to do every daily every day or you have no chance of getting even half of the items.
And of course this is intended. It's a cheap way to provide more "content." But I preferred holidays when they were holidays, and not hijacked to provide cheap grindy "content."You can know more from www.rsroleplay.com
