Made in India
Indioscopy- Sanket Joshi
“JSK”- is the word now frequently used in India to greet someone, instead of “Hello”.
When one of my family friends Mr.K greeted me “JSK Sanket”, I replied immediately “ wassup!”... I thought it was a new, cool Indian greeting and I had to reciprocate by being equally cool. It took me 4-5 JSK greetings to really understand what JSK stood for. It simply meant “Jai Shree Krishna”.
I was amused, and little traumatised by learning that in India we can also abbreviate God now. Then again we have 33 billion Gods; we do need some help at times. May be there is an outsourcing opportunity here– send us any long words and we Indians will make them as small as possible.
Mr.K recently resurfaced in my life again. He wished me goodbye in a Morse code that’s what I thought Gn,JSK,TC,SD and I thought this man is really religious in the night, when he goes to bed he remembers more gods than in the mornings. This time I refrained from replying back in equally cooler way, mainly because I couldn't be any cooler than him and I didn't know any name of the God which could be abbreviated to “TC”.
One fine night Mr.K again wished me good night “JSK,GN,TC,SD,CU. By now the curiosity was killing me. So I asked him, to simplify his encoded wishes. They stood for – Jai Shree Krishna, Goodnight, Take care, Sweet Dreams, See you!
I am still traumatised after that night. I even don’t want to go to the temple, as my God might say – SPM,IMB ,TTYL,LOL- “Stop Poking Me, I am busy, Talk To You Laterzzzzz, Laugh out Loud!”
