1. When did u find yourself lost in the world of words?
I was six years old when I read my first book ‘Robinson Crusoe’ and I was extremely captivated by it. I continued reading and I fell in love with the world of words. It is a bond that cant be broken, I am intricately involved with reading, so much that even when I drive and stop at a red light, I have to read as much as I can.
2. Do you believe that self-experience is important to keep your pen flowing? What motivates you to write and just keep writing?
Yes, I strongly believe self –experience is a big factor in a writer’s life of any genre. Just like how an actor has to prepare for his film and gets in the specific character, for a writer it is crucial to bank upon his or her personal experiences. It is my sole aim to talk to people from every phase of life, that is how I love to formulate stories. As a person I am very talkative and can start a conversation with anyone and it motivates me to come up with a good story.
3. For a writer, how important it is to be a good reader?
When I answer this question, I answer it with a lot of conviction. No aspirant or an established writer can be a writer if they don’t read. There is a famous quote by Mark Twain:
‘ The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who cant read them.’
So reading is a very good habit especially if someone wants to be a writer.
4. What are your views on social media?
Social media is phenomenal. I think it has connected people globally, it is easy to share your views now and it has become accessible to all. But there is a fine line between social media and reality. People dwell themselves so much in social media that they completely start ignoring the world. There are beautiful things in this world and people should be aware of its existence. Social media is great; my advice is to use it wisely but to also be synchronized with the world around you.
5. A message for budding literature enthusiasts...
I want to tell all the budding writers that find what you love and don’t be too hard on yourself. We often start assuming that we are not good enough, but never think that way, it is just not correct. Love yourself and the moment you start appreciating and loving yourself, you will know what you want, and if it is writing you have cracked a good code.
