Made in India
She started her journey as a dentist then transformed into a blogger, then a copywriter and now she’s also an author. Dr. Nikita Lalwani already has got quite a lot for her LinkedIn profile. The 25-year-old has recently got her book – 2 Peg Ke Baad - published with Srishti Publishers.
At the age of 15, she wrote her first article for a local newspaper. The idea behind starting to write was to confront people with the long-running conflict in her mind. The article was titled – why girls have restrictions – and I guess that explains everything about the conflict. However, it didn’t change anything except for the fact that Nikita had discovered a way to express her rage. When she was 16, she penned her first book – Live Life… Stop Analysing it – which was published with Himalaya Publishers. The foray never seemed to end for this one.
When asked her about her biggest challenge in achieving success?
When you try to walk away from the league, you mostly end up walking alone, unless you are a hit. The biggest thing was to gather enough courage to believe in my own dreams. This took me 5 years of my college life while screwing people’s teeth and my mind before I could finally take the leap into doing what I really wanted to. I was my biggest opposition. And once I convinced myself none seemed to matter.
What has been your greatest achievement personally?
Winning over my biggest fear- of standing alone and watching others succeed meanwhile. I believe that I have conquered my fear of failure and I know that things do work out eventually, no matter what.
Who has been your biggest inspiration?
I once saw a movie as a kid where a school girl happens to write a book and accidently it gets published. That movie inspired me to write my first book; ever since my hunger of exploring and exploring more has kept me inspired.
Which is your favourite story from the book?
My personal favourite is ‘Euphobia’ that largely focuses on a sensitive topic of transgenders. The way it has come out, makes me fall in love with the story all over again, every time I read it.
Dr. Lalwani is ably represented by Sarvashreshtha Solutions and AGENCY09 who are working on reaching the book to a wider audience.
